Champion gallopers thrilled the audience last Saturday at the races.

Flemington

The winner of the VRC Oaks won the Group 2 Blazer Stakes – 1410m race at Flemington last Saturday. The 4 year old mare won by 1 and ¼ lengths against Bonaira and paid $4.20. Trainer Robert Smerdon was delighted by his trained galloper’s performance last week. Mosheen’s career was doubted last week because of her concerning last 2 starts but because of his performance at the Blazer Stakes Mosheen is believed to be coming on her winning form.

Phillip Stokes trained horse Maybe Discreet won the Edward Manifold Stakes against the favourite Commanding Jewel and paid $5.40. Maybe Discreet was ridden by Luke Nolen and started on barrier 15 in a field of 16. Maybe Discreet now has 3 wins and 2 placing from her 6 starts to date and can run from 1200m to 1610m.

Robert Hickmott trained horse Green Moon won the group 1 Turnbull Stakes. These talented gallopers have 6 wins and 3 placing from his 18 starts to date and have prize money of $1,085,096. Green Moon was ridden by Craig Williams and started on barrier 8 and has a minimum win distance of 1600 and a maximum win distance of 2300m.

Hallowell Belle won her first stakes win at Flemington beating the favourite Bel Sprinter who didn’t get place. Hallowell Bell was trained Gai Waterhouse and been seen competing in group races.

Randwick

The New Zealand galloper It’s a Dundeel won the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes against the odds on favourite Proisir trained by Gai Waterhouse. It’s a Dundeel is still unebeaten from his 5 and only starts to date and can run from 1200m to 2000m.

Norzita trained by Bart Cummings got her revenged against Longport by winning the Flight Stakes at Randwick. Norzita started in barrier 3 and was ridden by Hugh Bowman. Norzita was beaten on a protest by Longport in The Tea Rose Stakes. It’s a huge comeback for this talented filly after the upsetting defeat last start.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse won a 2 group 1 races at Randwick lat Saturday. Fat Al winning the Epsom Hadicap 1600m race and Glendacam Gold winning the Metropolitan – 2400m race.
