Auzform Weekend Review

Ascot

The 5 year old mare trained by Grant Williams, Western Jewel won ($6.90) the $400,000 Golden River Developments-Perth Cup (2400m) last Saturday while the States leading apprentice Ms Kyra Yuill made history by becoming the first female to win the Perth Cup. Now Western Jewel has a record of 8 wins and 7 placings from its 27 starts with a total of $587,990 prize money. Her minimun distance win is 1600m with a maximum win distance of 2400m.

The top weight God Has Spoken ($3.50) also did a great job by gaining 2nd place in the race with Senhor Da Gama ($2.80) 3rd and Tranquility 4th.

Doomben

Randwick trainer Mrs Gai Waterhouse together with jockey Tommy Berry won the 2 feature races last Saturday at Doomben.

The BJ Mclachlan Stakes (1200m) was won by a 2 year old filly named Driefontein ($4.00). This galloper has a record of 2 wins from its only 2 starts. Its first start was in Randwick a 2 year old Handicap (1000m) race. Driefontein has now won up to 1200m and possibly could go on to some good middle distance wins.
Runners Up in this particular race were Sizzling ($1.50) 2nd, Snipzu ($1.80) 3rd and Sookie 4th.

The 2nd feature race that Mrs Gai Waterhouse and Tommy Berry won was the $200,000 BernBorough Handicap (1615m). The race was won by the 6 year old gelding Kontiki Park ($5.50). He has a minimum distance win of 1400m and a maximum distance win of 1615m. This galloper now has 6 wins and 10 placings from its 24 starts and a prizemoney of $369,900.

Runners up were Fillidelphia ($2.00) 2nd, Emvoss ($3.10) 3rd and Carry Me Bluey 4th.

The 3rd feature race in Doomben last saturday was the $150,000 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m). The 3 year old filly Punch On ($13.20) won the race, trained by Gold Coast trainer Peter Balzen and was ridden by Paul Hammersley. Punch On now has a minimun win distance of 1200m and a maximum win distance of 1350m with a record of 2 wins and 4 placings from its 11 starts and a prize money of $236,000.

Runners Up were Noisy Ocean 2nd ($12.70), Lucky Morna ($9.90)3rd with Playtime 4th.

Toowoomba

Miss Imagica ($3.50) won the $100,000 Neil Mansell Concrete Fillies and Mares Handicap (1200m). Miss Imagica is a 4 year old mare trained by Toowoomba trainer Mr Michael Nolan and was ridden by Norifumi Yamada. Miss Imagica now has a record of 7 wins and 4 placing from its 21 starts and a minimum win distance of 1010m and a maximum win distance of 1300m and a prize money total of $302,000

Runners up were Cariad 2nd ($2.10), Falvelina 3rd ($3.70) and Crystal Doll 4th.

Overall the weekend was quite a successfull time for both the trainers and punter.
