Gold Coast

At the Gold Coast everybody is excited for an event that only comes round once a year, the Gold Coast Magic Million Classic. The $2 Million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) will be in race 5. The race is restricted to 2YO and in set weight of 57KG with a field limit of 16 and 5 emergencies.

Most of the best 2YO's from around australia will be racing in this particular race with one of them being the biggest contender Driefontein. Mrs. Gai Waterhouse trained horse Driefontein is a 2YO filly with wins from 1000m to 1200m. His last achievement was in New Years Eve at Doomben the BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) where he won by a lenght and a half and ridden by Tommy Berry Driefontein is the current favourite in the TAB and drawn well in barrier 3. Punters are looking forward to seeing this horse winnning on Saturday plus they're confident enough knowing Mrs. Gai Waterhouse is the trainer because she is known to be a specialist with the 2YO olds.

Driefonteins closest challenger are Amorino, Sizzling and Alezan Thunder.

Amorino the 2YO colt trained by Mr. Gerald Ryan was drawn in barrier 8 and will carry the set weight of 57Kg. This galloper has 2 wins from its first 2 starts, his last start was on Rosehill a 2YO handicap race were he won by a length.

Drawn in barrier 6 Sizzling will also carry the set weight for the race. The Kelso Wood trained horse will be ridden by Chris Munice, and has 1 win and 2 major placings from its 3 starts to date. Sizzling last start was in Doomben were it got beaten by Driefontein by a lenght and a half in the BJ McLachlan stakes.

Mark Kavanagh trained horse is also one of the closest challengers in this race because of its last achivement in Sandown, Christmas eve were he won a 3 and 3/4 lenght over the 900m course. Alezan Thunder was drawn in barrier 9 and will carry 55Kg in weight.

Big chance for winning quinella horse no. 9 Hoss Amor.

The $1 Million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guneas (1400m) will have a field limit of 16 plus 5 emergency for 3YO set weight plus penalties.

Peter Balzen trained horse and VO Rogue winner Punch On is set to be very competitive. Ridden by Paul Hammersley this galloper has drawn barrier 9 and will carry 56Kg in weight, with 2 wins and 4 placings, this galloper is the big contender.

Closest challengers to Punch On are Safusa which is drawn in barrier 2, the VO Rogue runner up Noisy Ocean which was drawn wide in barrier 20 and Playtime, a place getter in the Vo Rogue and drawn in barrier 3.

Flemington

At Flemington race 6 is the Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m), this race will have a field limit of 16 plus 4 emergency.

Lets Be Happy the 5YO mare trained by Mr. Mick Clark and ridden by Chris Symons looks to be the biggest competion in this race. This galloper has 10 wins and 8 placings and can run from 975m to 1610m. Lets Be Happy last raced in Flemington were he won the 1400m handicap race. Punters are confident enough with this horse because it is used in running over 1400m plus it was drawn in barrier 1 and will carry 56.5kg in weight. Should be the winner.
